I was drafting a 2000 words reply to this thread when I read yours. I agree with you 100%. For all the noise 99% of Nigerians make about God an alien will think Nigeria is Heaven on earth.

Infact I am think later on this year I might start my own church business, my aim to be the first Fortune 500 "business Centre" in Nigeria.

Note that like in all Human endeavors and even in your own personal life, some people will ALWAYS thrive more than others not necessarily because they believed in God but they worked the principles which are God's universal principles. The Bible recorded that The rains falls for both good guys and bad guys!! But in my own thoughts, if the bad guys decides to plant His corn after the rains,then He will have an harvest while the Good guys is still looking at the sky.

Western Nations applied this to their economy and it is working for them.But African Nations is Faith without work which the Bible said, is dead.

As for your thoughts about Having an Absent God, NOTHING can demonstrate further HIS presence in the way the Earth is laid out.It cannot be a mistake or an Happenstance. Most fear the Ifa priest or jujuman more than the God they profess to worship. Tie a funny looking object on anything in Nigeria and you can be sure nobody would steal it!!! Those who believe in God I love them just as those who don't believe. God I think has given everyone a free will.

By nature I am sceptical about everything and everyone at the same time am positive and wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt. A very contradictory mindset one may say.

The only thing I believe in 100% is that there is a God. I remember asking my mother when I was 7, who created God and if he is so great why does he allow war,environmental disasters and other negative things happen. My mother looked at me with the expression on her face, hmmmm this boy you ask too much questions. She said she does not know the answers to all, but that man creates wars not God. Who created God? She said if she told me who created God, will I not also be curious and ask, who created the spirit/God/big bang... that created God etc etc. Ever since that day I have just accepted God and try and follow his commandments.

Not easy ofcourse but I think God knows the weakness of man. Strangely enough on average most countries that do God in a big way and surprise surprise two countries spring to mind everytime, our beloved NIGERIA and USA are morally bankcrupt and wicked. USA for instance with all its bible bashing how is it some states still have the "DEATH PENALTY". When one of the commandments says "thou shall not kill". Granted in war and self defence you have to. I remember an imbecile I met once at Atlanta telling me...er...but the bible says an "eye for an eye". My response was but in what context did you understand that when you read those words in the bible. I prefer Jesus response when he said " turn the other cheek". It is difficult but not impossible.

Which brings me on nicely to NIGERIA. If ever there was a country that acts as the PR nation for God, Nigeria will win the PR contract everytime. Not because the average Nigerian is holy, but the sophistication in fooling people into believing in God but at the same time awarding sub-contracts to the Devil. Most of these sub-contractors are these New age churches with very funky names that practice a very bizarre and warped sense of fellowship, one wonders wether Jesus even in his wildest dreams thought they could be this bad. They tell you give 10% of your earnings, more offering to the church,the more you give the more blessings you will get from God. Yet the majority still live wretched lives and foolishly cannot see God is being used by most Politicians, self ordained pastors,deconesses,bishops,evangelists to deceive them that they should seek solace in God while enriching themselves.

It is amazing how man is so against God’s will - even when it is written in black and white. When Jesus would speak about the last days, and the signs to watch out for, the very first thing He said was:

See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many (Matthew 24:4, 5)

But what we have now is a "culture of elevation" based on how much "OFFERing, Tithe or Vow" you give to the church.
Sooner than later, that thieving brother would become a 'Deacon' and then a 'Minister'! It does not concern our pimping Pastor, whether he is living above his means or where the blood-money comes from.....as long as god (represented on earth by the church/Pastor :d ) is given his rightly percentage! :d
