| Arrest Them All - A Call To The Efcc Akintokunbo A Adejumo My wife spoke to me a few days ago. This was after I had received a suggestion as to alternative ways of combating corruption in Nigeria from a very good friend, a member of Champions For Nigeria who resides in the USA. At the same time, coincidentally, several members of the organisation, which I also belong to, gave me their thoughts on this issue of official corruption in Nigeria. They were all concerned. This is in addition to feedback I get from other concerned Nigerians. My wife was concerned that I am growing emergency grey hairs simply because I seem to be carrying Nigeria’s problems on my head. She seemed to think I am fighting a futile battle, which others greater and more influential than me had fought and had failed. I just had to reassure her that this is not the case. I had to convince her that on the long run, my, and other Nigerian’s fight against corruption will not be in vain, and that there will always be light at the... The situation is pretty damn bad. It is gone from bad to worse. But, we will keep campaigning. We should not relent. The cankerworm will soon assume a bloody national dimension. At least, "they" know that more eyes and organizations are on "them" now than before and that one day they all will reap what "they" have sown.
I can see the ruling class fighting themselves to pieces over this dirty practices. The people may not stand up because they are damn right fed up but I can see an intra-class squabble developing into a bloody bourgeios revolution. It is this revolution, induced and fought among their members, that might be our saving grace. I can also say, looking at trends from sociological angle, that we are approaching the peak and the point of equilibrium of this disgraceful practice. The contradictions, inherent in our body polity thereof, will destroy them. "They" maybe smiling but unbeknowest to "them" that "they" are laying the foundation for "their" own destruction.

Why are women so intuitive? Your wife is right! You are calling on "Thieves" to arrest "thieves"?
You look at it:
Federal Government to arrest treasury looters/ probe ex-military looters?
Legislators to remove immunity clause?
EFCC to arrest corrupt Politicians?
Police to arrest Armed robbers?
Dont we have enough evidence to know that it doesn't work (cant work, won't work) that way in Nigeria?
For how long are we going to continue to delude ourselves?
Abeg, if we want to continue to chase "ring-worm" while allowing "Leprosy" to foster, its our choice, our nation, our future.
Why should someone/people "decide" to develop H.B.P. over a problem whose only solution, is simple and obvious?
Hmmmm......

| Re: Arrest Them All - A Call To The Efcc The only moment changes can be effected in Nigeria as far as mindless corruption is concerned is when the thieving elites realise that their safety in Nigeria as looters is not guaranteed. We are gradually getting to that stage. The wife of Daukoru, former petroleum minister, was kidnapped some weeks ago. Some members of the thieving elites are therefore beginning to reap what they have been sowing. The challenge is how to accelerate the process of "operation pay back".

| Re: Arrest Them All - A Call To The Efcc Indeed you may be right, 10Kobo. But they are the only ones we can call upon. Unless you want Nigeria to be calling the Americans, British etc to do the arresting. It is our problem and we are the only one who can solve it. And somebody in Nigeria has to do it.
Right now, the EFCC is the only one we have.

| Re: Arrest Them All - A Call To The Efcc ...Back on the case of the Ogun State House of Assembly: since people are so deep rooted in corruption, every step they take will continue reflecting that. What do we expect? A few weeks ago, the EFCC was trying to launch its ANCOR (Anti- Corruption Revolution) programme in the South-West, none of the Governors were there - it's a shame.
...and the Governor himself, who cannot plead ignorance of this entire goings on, be questioned and indicted...
That none of the South-West Governors showed up to the launch of ANCOR by the EFCC should not have come as a surprise to anyone. It is a clear indictment of the leadership of the EFCC and just shows that those Governors do not take the leadership of that organization seriously at all! The EFCC should have invited Pastor Adeboye & the other men/women of God instead
Who would take the leadership of an organization like the present EFCC seriously? Why, for example, has it not appealed the decision given in the Ibori case up till now? Ibori is the power behind the throne and it is doubtful that he can be touched by this regime. The Nigerian ship weathers stormy waters without a captain. The main difference between the Obasanjo regime and this regime? Whilst OBJ was surrounded by crooks, he [OBJ] controlled the crooks and reined them in at will; however, this regime is surrounded by crooks who are in firm control of what goes on and are reining in the executive – how does one explain the nominations of key personnel [e.g. President’s Chief of Staff] to this regime by James Ibori?
On the Governor of Ogun State, under the present dispensation, who is going to indict and question Gbenga Daniel? The PDP that is being held to a ransom by Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti?

Babatoks,
I feel you are wrong footing 10Kobo on his submission.
Nigerians do not need the Americans, British etc to deal with our Nigerian problem and he has not stated so. What 10Kobo said is that the answer and solution is clear (in my book that means getting rid of the corrupt ones forcefully, violently, if need be, or making the punishment for being corrupt very real and not subject to plea bargaining that EFCC under Farida has become very adept at).
Frantz Fannon said, "Every generation has its own mission, it is up to it..to find it, fulfill it or betray it".
The French solved the problem of corruption that Louis XVI became when he proclaimed, "I am the State". The French Revolution was preceeded by the Bread Riots on the streets of Paris.
The present crop of leaders in Nigeria will push Nigerians of the present generation to discover its mission and they shall fulfill it violently, for when a man is down, he fears no more fall!
EFCC is not what we (Nigerians) have, it belongs to the crooks. Nigerian masses will take matters into its own hands with the current state of play - it is a matter of time!

| Re: Arrest Them All - A Call To The Efcc Now that Oluseyi Moses had called upon EFCC into action. What is EFCC waiting for? If EFCC turns deaf ears to Mr. Moses's call, l will conclude that the EFCC hands are unclean and may be bloody. If so, it affirms that our government agencies like EFCC protects the government instead of the general masses.
