| Re: Do you remember your Nigerian soaps? I remember "SPACS", which was soon cancelled after RMD joined the show, but is probably remember by most because of him.
"Fiery Force", the Nigerian movie about crime starring Funso Alabi as the police chief as an anti-crime squad chasing after some crooks, one of whom was Funso Alabi's son.
I remember the final scene of that movie after his (Funso Alabi's) son shoots him and then a policeman shoots and kills the son. After, Funso Alabi picks up his dead son and the policeman tells him, "I'm sorry, Sir." And Funso Alabi replies, "Sorry? For doing your job?"
That was too cold/hard!

Mr. Lee (Kwan Yew - Leader of Singapore): Why should I be against democracy? The British came here, never gave me democracy, except when they were about to leave. But I cannot run my system based on their rules. I have to amend it to fit my people's position. In multiracial societies, you don't vote in accordance with your economic interests and social interests, you vote in accordance with race and religion. Supposing I'd run their system here, Malays would vote for Muslims, Indians would vote for Indians, Chinese would vote for Chinese. I would have a constant clash in my Parliament which cannot be resolved because the Chinese majority would always overrule them. So I found a formula that changes that...

Who remember this thing they used to do.. it was a competition of all the states in the federation... for the best TV programme or so. the one i will never forget was the one from the then Bendel state... "Pot of Life" the lead character was Amiwu... that had to go through the evil forest to get the pot of life... i think they won that year...
I remember behind the clouds... Nosa (RIP) that was dating Zianab, there was a time he said to her .... "haba Zianab" since then I hardly ever say haba without adding Zianab even if it is under my breath.

I saw some episodes of BTC. Who is Nosa? I know Tanko (that Alhaji with three wives with a real name that reads like Yoruba but isn't... Adekwa...) is dead. Or is that Wind of Destiny? Mulan,
Soaps vs. Series: From my understanding, Soaps typically run for a long time and they basically end when there aint any script writer or the plot no longer makes sense (Passions-good example of plot that no longer makes sense... stopped getting web updates on that excuse for a Soap eons ago; One Life to Live...) as opposed to Series, that, though sequential too, have a finite/defined number of episodes that is typically known. Soaps will typically (or maybe I should say may) have more than one writer, and the storyline is developed as the recording progresses, while series are pre-written and tapings are completed before the first episodes come on air. I think 13 weeks is the norm in the US and maybe in Nigeria too for series. e.g reality shows. Third Eye was a crime series which starred Olu Jacobs: His Daughter was always giving him the clue to solving crimes hence the name Third Eye
Yep. Yomi Adeyemi was the lady's name. I think she is now Adeyemi-Wilson.

Gone are the days our soaps and series taught us something of moral value. And to think we have more resources now than we did back then. E go better sha, e go better

Pot of life, that was a great production!
Nosa of behind the clouds, is he dead now? Wasn't he the fine young one? NTA is not as interesting as it used to be and I agree with SNB that they don't teach values like they used to.
I try to follow Hollyoaks here and sometimes, their message for a plotline is so obvious and they even give a helpline# for people to call in at the end of the show...
