Dude Starts Break Dancing in Church. Some said he is dancing crazy. It can’t be a Black who said that. He doesn’t look crazy to me. I don’t an AA who would not like this dude’s dancing. He gets mad props. He would fit right in with the African American Pentecostal, holiness, and sanctified churches. Dey believes that the best the Devil should have the best rhythm. This dude can dance. Laughing.

This music has a Caribbean feel to it, though it may be African. It does sound familiar to me.

I am sorry I did not re-read my post before I posted. Anyway, the Pentecostals believe that the devil should not have the best rhythm and beat. That dude would not fit in AMEs (African Methodist Episcopal Church) and Black churches. Dancing is seen as secular and the work of the devil. Generally dancing is only permitted when you are in the spirit. Any kind of movement can be made and not be considered dancing if you don’t cross the feet.

The AMEs and the Baptists would have looked at this dude like he was crazy. I can hear them now saying “where this fool African come from. Is he on crack? This ain’t the club. This is the lawd’s house. They see it as fake religion. It is only in the Pentecostal and Sanctified churches where you will see men dancing. You want see that in the Baptists and AME churches to often.

It is also worthy to note that many Baptist churches with younger ministers are taking on some of the Petticoats and Holiness ways, i.e. Praise worship. I personally don’t like praise worship. This is where the congregation dances for the lawd. It is very entertaining, but fake to me. The Pentecostals and the Holiness folk say we are kind of boring because we don’t dance for the lawd just for the sake of it. We wait on the descending of the spirit. If the spirit has not descended on the folk and you are carrying on you are seen as a fake Christian, faking the funk. Your are just acting a fool.

I like the old fashion church where you pray and sing with minimal music (organ and piano) and call down the spirit without all of that noisy racket. When the spirit comes, you can holla, cry, scream, run, jump up and down, dance all you want. It is appropriate. The spirit demands it.

This video cracks me up. Screaming Jay was a character, but he has a fantastic and powerful voice. He is playin’ the witch doctor aka conjurer in AA culture. He going to put some juju/hoodoo on his woman who is trying to leave him. He don’t care if she doesn’t want him no more. She ain’t going no where.

I Put A Spell on You – Screaming Jay Hawkins

I put a spell on you
’cause you’re mine

You better stop the things you do
I ain’t lyin’
No I ain’t lyin’

You know I can’t stand it
You’re runnin’ around
You know better daddy
I can’t stand it cause you put me down

I put a spell on you
Because you’re mine
You’re mine

I love ya
I love you
I love you
I love you anyhow
And I don’t care
If you don’t want me
I’m yours right now

You hear me
I put a spell on you
Because you’re mine

I like this routine here. It is so true. When I was 21 my daddy slapped me so hard I was on the floor. I still to this day don't know what I said that made him so mad. That is the only time I can remember my daddy putting his hands on me. I was always careful about the tone I used with him. He must heard something in it he did not like. I still can fatham what it was. My grandmama was a witness to it, and I asked grandmama what I said to make him slap me.

Lawd I love these old metered hymns. They minister to your soul. They bring down the spirit. In metered hymns you have a caller. The caller call the lyrics to the congregation, and the congregation responds in slower metered pace. This is my kind of church service. These are Black Baptists.

Reminds of me of when David's wife Michal made fun of how he was dancing and worshiping God. Guess what happened to her, she became barren. Only God knows those who worship Him. The order of man's services doesn't necessarily mean it's acceptable to God. Others may like a much melancholy form of worship while others go all out dancing to the King, who am I to condemn either? If God accepts the worship, who am I to nitpick and complain?

Do you know what God has done in some people's lives? Speaking from experience of what God has done in mine, why would I not dance? Mi o se ni jo, Oluwapamilerinayo, mi o se ni jo? One thing that I do hold dear is having total respect for God always in His house and at all times, that means, no chewing gum in church or eating etc.

Let's the AMEs and the their recruits keep judging whose mode of worship is acceptable or not, as long as God still has the final say, all that will never really matter.

One other thing, praise worship doesn't necessarily mean dancing for the Lord in my book. It simply means praising Him, worshiping Him and glorifying His name. However I choose to do that is left to me as He has given me the free will to do so!

Salsa, Mambo, Merengue and the Tango are all creations of the descendent of Africans in the spanish colonial islands and South America. Just like in the US all popular dances are created by African Americans, i.e. Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Fox Trot, Charleston, the Cakewalk, and contemporary dances, etc., etc.

The Mambo - the music is has been disabled though.
