      Thumbs up All About Delilah....

Don't ask me what I would have done without this lady in my life. Through thick and thin, she has provided songs over my radio for the past 20 years for every situation any man or woman could go through. Her voice is so soothing that it could melt any heart made of stone. Many nights sitting up studying or just hanging out with the girls at work, the favorite station to play was the good old Delilah show.

      http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...471/the_biogra

"Delilah After Dark" Has an Audience of 7 Million!
Known only to her fans as simply, "Delilah", this radio host can be heard from seven o'clock until midnight, seven nights a week, on her show, "Delilah After Dark."Delilah's large audience -seven million dedicated
listeners- easily finds her show on more than two hundred radio stations across the United States. Delilah has been in the broadcasting business for twenty-five years, but her success didn't happen overnight. The biography of Delilah, famous syndicated radio host, began in Reedsport, Oregon.

Born Delilah Rene Luke, her father led a Country-Western band, and her brother was part of a Jazz band. Delilah loved music, and she wanted to perform herself. But, she soon found she didn't have a singing voice. Delilah didn't have a talent for acting or dancing either. Fortunately, though, she did find her talent: she could talk, and people would listen.

So, when Delilah was still in middle school, she combined her voice and her love of music. She became a news reporter on KDUN-AM, a radio station in Reedsport. Although KDUN was a small operation, it was known as "The Voice of the Oregon Dunes."

Today, Delilah is a devoted Christian, single mother, Point Hope founder, author, and public speaker, as well as being a famous syndicated radio host. Her radio show, "Delilah After Dark", is an uplifting mixture of conversation, insightful thoughts, sharing, song requests, and pop music. The show's host always shares snippets of her personal life, especially about her seven kids.

Listeners love to call into Delilah's radio show and request songs be played for that special someone in their lives. If a caller doesn't share a story about their request, Delilah often plays "detective" in her warm, caring manner. She gently prods the caller, and before you know it, he or she feels like they are personally chatting with Delilah over a cup of coffee. The callers either have a heartbreaking, or an uplifting, story that they share with the radio host... and her seven million listeners.

Other times, listeners to "Delilah After Dark" syndicated radio show call up and openly share stories of their lives with the host. Delilah listens sympathetically, then responds to these stories with warm, encouraging
words of hope and faith. She also plays a requested song for the caller. Or, Delilah chooses a song that fits the situation perfectly. According to Delilah, she loves music because “it touches the heart the way nothing else can.”

Even though Delilah doesn't have a "Ph.D." behind her name, she's a successful syndicated radio show because she opens up her heart night-after-night on the airwaves. She listens to stories from heartbroken lovers, long-time married people, proud parents and other relatives, friends, thankful recipients of God-given miracles... she listens to everyday stories about everyday people in the world. Delilah listens, sympathizes or congratulates, and she always offers words of hope to those in need. Plus, she plays a song to help the caller celebrate, or to help the caller cope, or reflect, on their own special story.

In her personal life, four of Delilah's kids are adopted. Since she's well-versed about the foster care system, Delilah founded an organization called, "Point Hope." The purpose of Point Hope is to assist children, particularly needy ones in Ghana, and kids who are in foster care around the world.

      Delilah
Delilah, the syndicated radio host who dominates the evening hours on the airwaves, embraced radio when she was a middle-schooler in Reedsport, Oregon, reporting school news and sports on KDUN-AM 1030 (formerly KDUN-AM 1470), a small station in her hometown. Today, her soothing voice, open heart and love of music has expanded her audience from the folks in Reedsport to more than seven million people in more than 200 markets throughout the country.

Delilah airs from 7 p.m. to midnight in each market. Her distinctive blend of story-telling, sympathetic listening and encouragement - all scored with adult contemporary soft rock – makes her number one among women 25-54 in Seattle, Sacramento, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Hartford, West Palm Beach, Austin, and Jacksonville.

Delilah says that her show is a "safety zone where listeners take off their armor, slip into a 'Mr. Rogers' cardigan, sit around the electronic hearth and share their secrets."

She adds that her audience is "just like me and the two women working on the show, who were once listeners. We are single parents who work hard to strike a balance between family and work life. We also enjoy our friendships and remember to laugh as much as possible."

Delilah is a single mother of seven children, four of whom she adopted. Because of her personal experience with the foster care system, Delilah has established a foundation called Point Hope as a voice for forgotten children everywhere. The immediate focus of the Foundation is on refugee children in Ghana and on special needs children in the foster care system nationwide and in her neighborhood of White Center in Seattle.

In addition to a passion for children and radio, Delilah is devoted to music because "it touches the heart the way nothing else can." Her father had a Country-Western band, and her brother played in a Jazz band. Though she writes lyrics, she cannot sing. Delilah says, "I always wanted to be a performer, but I can’t sing, dance or act. Luckily, I found I could talk!"

Delilah, like all blue-ribbon radio hosts, loves her work "because it has allowed me to bring together a distinct community of people who reach out to help one another. We don't try to fix people. We listen. We sympathize. We empathize. If the show has a message it’s listen to your own gut. Trust your own intuition. Go where it leads. Don’t give up."

Daily broadcasts, caring for her children, running a foundation, writing books, traveling and public speaking add up to a very busy life for Delilah. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Today Show Feature: Love Stories From the Heart

I have always been facinated by this woman. Her voice especially.

One of her songs I would never forget was about a man who called into her radio show to request a song for his daughter who was getting married. "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.

      Dear Delilah.....

I am making a request for one of my 'friends' I used to work with at my job.....who got fired a while back for mouthing of out her manager who is far better, more beautiful than her retarded, black-charcoal...okoro of a behind....so she is in bondage right now.....The story is long, but I will make it short. You see, blood-money is the root of all evil amongst men, but useless-men is the root of all evil amongst desparate and envious women....This Ochanga...chere-were Xtian co-worker of mine eh kwa was mouthing of our manager for giving her some open-hearted constructive criticism.....as usual the typical Nigerian local woman decided to open her lousy trap...and accused the woman of being single even with all her 'sweetness' that men all the good-looking dignified men around town complimented our manager of. See jelosi O!

It all began some time ago and is history now....my co-worker is now without a job and begging at all church entrances....with foodstamps and welfare coupons and is very much about to use up all her unemployment benefits she has saved up....

But the presence of a "Salem Sorcerer" on this lovely thread has conjured up the sickening events of the past....so I want to make request for my 'friend' in the guest lounge....who claims to be a Xtian but has a heart so dark....even satan will get lost within the maze and abyss of such a hell hole...if he attempted to take up permanent residency in such a spiritual sewer! Such a Xtian with a poisonous mind that even little children will cower at the dark presence of such an ugly force of unnatural causes. Aa she languishes in the notorious important persons lounge....awaiting the release of the usual 'bounty-pussy' hunters......please play this song in rememberance of the blackie devil......

Please.....I am requesting the song...."Udu" and other nice "pepper-bodi" lullabyes for some slumbering in the guest lounge before their planes take off to destination.....Ohanaeze......some nice nigerian folklores song that fits the personalities of such 'lost in translation' entities.....with the brains of a guinea fowl and guinea-pig combined.

Thank you Delilah for being there when I need you...always.

Dear Delilah....today is a blessed day as my special young lady prepares for college in the fall. It has been rough setting this young lady straight....and lord knows if I had to do it all over again....I would prefer to have all boys....NO GIRL!

      LOL!!!

Little missy is about to turn 18.....a virgin she says oooooooooooooh....hmmmmmm(5 feet and 9 inches tall) and boy graduation day is just around the corner.
My baby is about to leave the house and for once I am soooooooooo heart-broken.
She has been accepted to go the Georgia Tech in Atlanta Georgia....

My baby is gonna be a "Yellow Jacket".......(I think that is the boys' basket ball team)...Lord know what the ladies are called.

Precious memories I can't forget....as we were driving back from a basketball game today....I asked my baby girl what she considered the most embarassing day of her life concerning her mum and she had this to say:

"How can I forget when you showed up at my school with pink highlights in your hair.....a tank top.....half your butt/boobs showing from your skin-tight jeans....with the crack of your butt showing.... chewing your bubble gum like some deer on a range.....mom....I just about died...how could you?....My friends cannot stop teasing me till this day...they call you the "Shenaynay momma"....You could have passed for "martin lawrence" in "big momma house".....

We burst out laughing.....so hard...there was milkshake all over the car.

      I replied.

"...but you know why I did that darling.....When I talk to your 'hard head'...do you listen? Juuuuuuuuuus decided to teach ya a lesson huh? Wasn't that fun?...."

      I said to her:

"You embarassed me every day with your panty/thong or wharrrrrever showing through your 'low-riders'....not to mention that dreadful 'scorpio' tattoo you acquired at the base of your spine without telling me huh?....With those your galfriends.....

....And how many times did I tell you I did not like it? Your daddy did not mind it and of course I had to let you have your way. Well, I had to win somehow with your mode of dressing......it did the trick didn't it? Look what a fine lady you have become.....I did not want you dressing like that.....not till you were in college at least....there is time for everything you know.....When I give you money.....I trusted you to pick the right clothes.....not become a member of the "Orsbones" for crying out loud...."

I wanted to dress just like you ...like a ghetto bunny...just to make you see how it felt and boy....I almost died when I saw your face, trying so hard not to laugh in front of your whole classroom........It was a kodak moment for sure...darling you were only 13....what were you thinking?"

      "But daddy did not mind"....
"Oh really.....well we saw about that didn't we"?

      Tee hee hee hee hee

Dear Delilah...please play me a song expressing how I feel today...

      Mixed blessings....
I am sad and I am happy.....

So you went a-partyin' without moi......

      Anyway, forgiven.
See you when you are well-rested. Hope I am not sleeping then O.

      YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!

I love O sole mio, especially.............. and Nessun Dorma....

The English translation made me fall madly in love with the song when I understood the lyrics......

Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
      n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare già na festa...
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.

      Ma n'atu sole
      cchiù bello, oje ne'.
      O sole mio
      sta 'nfronte a te!
      O sole
      O sole mio
      sta 'nfronte a te!
      sta 'nfronte a te!

Quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne,
      me vene quase 'na malincunia;
      sotto 'a fenesta toia restarria
quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne.

      Ma n'atu sole
      cchiù bello, oje ne'.
      O sole mio
      sta 'nfronte a te!
      O sole
      O sole mio
      sta 'nfronte a te!
      sta 'nfronte a te!

      English Translation

What a wonderful thing a sunny day
The serene air after a thunderstorm
The fresh air, and a party is already going on…
What a wonderful thing a sunny day.

      But another sun,
      that’s brighter still
      It’s my own sun
      that’s in your face!
      The sun, my own sun
      It’s in your face!
      It’s in your face!

When night comes and the sun has gone down,
      I start feeling blue;
      I’d stay below your window
When night comes and the sun has gone down.

      But another sun,
      that’s brighter still
      It’s my own sun
      that’s in your face!
      The sun, my own sun
      It’s in your face!
      It’s in your face!

      Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah.....Araba......in your face......my sun!!!......

      Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
      Tu pure, o, Principessa,
      nella tua fredda stanza,
      guardi le stelle
      che tremano d'amore
      e di speranza.
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me,
      il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
      quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio
      che ti fa mia!
      (Il nome suo nessun saprà!...
      e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!)
      Dilegua, o notte!
      Tramontate, stelle!
      Tramontate, stelle!
      All'alba vincerò!
      vincerò, vincerò!

      English Translation of "Nessun Dorma"

      Nobody shall sleep!...
      Nobody shall sleep!
      Even you, o Princess,
      in your cold room,
      watch the stars,
that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
my name no one shall know...
      No!...No!...
On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
      Vanish, o night!
      Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win

      Yes baby.....you win.....you win....you win!!!

I am a serious Pavarotti fan......but unlike you......did not grow up with it.....I acquired the taste for classical music.......in my early 20s......by watching shows on American TV.....Yanni and the likes.

Delilah, please play some Yanni for my Araba......where words are not needed for expression....but well-felt.
