On The Fringes Of English

When I was young and books were hard to come by, I would grab anything that looked like it had print on it and devour it greedily. I was quite catholic (or indiscriminate, if you like) in my quest for reading matter - Jane Austen or Sidney Sheldon were equally welcome at my table. (However, I found (and still find) the original works of Shakespeare quite indigestible.)

Since the reading matter available was quite limited, it meant that any books that were in in my permanent possession...
