If NVS Villagers' Wishes Were Horses...

Posted Jun 21, 2009 at 07:29 PM by Shoko Loko Bangoshe (The Thoughts of Chairman Shoko)

There's a lot of angst and rage about the current situation in Nigeria on NVS. Hardly a day goes by without someone writing an article or making a post about how terrible things are, how Nigerian leaders are running the nation aground and how we need to change. Of course, the trouble is that change isn't an easy thing - it would take lots of money, manpower and time to effect the change that many Nigerians desire.

But what IF change was so easy to bring about? What if all someone...

A Title Revamp

Tags blog, change, title

But I've come to find that it's rather fun... so I came to think that the name 'Shoko's Blog' was rather nondescript. So I've decided to rename the blog, as you can probably see.

"Mptcheeeewwww!" I can hear some of you say. "Chairman - who does he think he is, giving himself a title like that?" I say to you - keep your hair on....

The More Things Change, The More They Remain The Same

Just read this article by Mark Okin on 'Ethnicity and Bigotry'

I'm intrigued as to how possible it is to change people's prejudices, or if it is even worthwhile. Sometimes, such prejudices are borne out of ignorance, and the people who hold them are very open to new ideas. In such a situation, the prospects for change are pretty good. However, in many cases, people's prejudices are like religion - they've...

Fattening Rooms

My roving eye just caught this thread:

http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/...your-take.html

I'm kind of curious about the idea of fattening rooms. I guess it means that in times gone by, plump women were regarded as beautiful (before the advent of 'civilisation' with its admonitions to watch your calories and cholesterol).

But if this was the case, I don't quite get the need for fattening rooms. Surely,...
