Craven Cottage will play host to the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming International friendly with Nigeria on Friday, May 29th, with the Super Eagles hoping that the clash with Giovanni Trapattoni’s side can kick-start the FIFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying campaign.
The Republic of Ireland will also use the challenge to prepare for the Group 8, World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia which takes place on Saturday June 6th.

Currently ranked 30th in the FIFA World Rankings, four places above the Republic of Ireland, the Super Eagles will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on the 2006 World Cup in Germany and will be keen to qualify for the first ever FIFA World Cup finals to be held in Africa.
Nigeria have a large number of stars plying their trade in the Premier League with players such as Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel, Newcastle’s Obafemi Martins and Fulham’s very own Dickson Etuhu and all expecting to feature against the Republic of Ireland.

That's a very reasonable pairing for an end-of-season International Friendly. Decent ticket prices, too. Could have been there, but for travelling commitments.

Hope Nigeria can begin to showcase other younger talents. Stars like Kanu are beginning to wane.
