After reading all these accounts, is it safe to say we were all a bunch of R-A-Z-Z kids growing up? Ga-lly! I'm sure some people here are products of Saint Saviour's, Adrao, Corona, Unilag Staff School of back in the day oh, UI Staff School, and that other one that happened to also be in UI....can't remember the name now! Ihave a feeling the househelps must have helped play a "significant" role in all of this!
Well me i went to iyanfoworogi primary school in kulende...e remain small sef, Adedibu for be my class mate....but i was a few years behind him....

BTW Great count, lemme help you conclude that your list: HID Awolowo, Abraham Adesanya, Anthony enahoro, Fatai rolling dollar etc..

Only to run into Valteena's excercise book. Do you guys know its from Ekiti?

"Omolayo Standard Press", I believe it was (is?) called.

Anyway, who remembers this song (can't remember the whole thing):

"I love my country, I nor go lie!

Na hinside am I go live and die!

(Hmm-Hmm-Hmm, Hmm-Hmm-Hmm-Hmm)

'E push me, ah push am, ah nor go-go!

Anyone?

Funny thread I say!

I can't get over that excercise book.

Next we'd see is Valteena's Primary 2 picture.

Oya Val, I dare you to post the photo - I QUANTRIPULE DARE YOU!

For VOR photo; dem never hinvent camera when eim dey elementary.

Auspicious.

Auspy I am never one to refuse to rise up to a dare/challenge. So be prepared to be dazzled by the "little beautiful princess" that Valteena was in primary two. I dey go come.. You go wait tire lol

On second thought I might just show you. Make I show am or not people?

Yeeeeeh! Uncle Bros Count 1:

Mrs. Karunwi…….Mrs. Doherty (very loving, pear-shaped woman who wore what is fondly referred to as spectacles). She was sooo sweet! I remember Staff School of those days and those brown ghostly-looking classroom buildings……By any chance do you remember Mrs. Fajebe?

Bros Count so me and you go Unilag Stavv School! I said iii-iit! Then some of those names……some of those names……..in fact, I have written threads on this NVS about some of those names above! Oh my God Count 1…….did driver drop you in school or did you do the Staff School bus gig?

Yes, those names were certainly above me….some of them were most definitely “Aunty” and “Uncle” to me gan sef! They used to even come and look my sister and I up in class sef just to make sure we were okay! But the fact that me and Oga Bros Count 1 were in Staff School at the same time tells me, I am old! MsWoman,

Did me and you know the same Mrs Doherty? The one who could silence a noisy class with a glare and make you quake in your shoes with one look?
Such a great educationist! We were to celebrate 40 years of leaving Staff School, and Morin was organizing it I don't know what happened.

Please disect me to the threads you wrote on them. I would love to read what you wrote.

All you ajeburras, wich of you dance Yoruba/Igbo/Hausa dance for primary?

These were some of the Yoruba dance songs we did:

Adebisi de mi l'alejo
Kila o ti seyi si?
Kii je'yan, ki je'resi
Af'eyin opolo!
Ki la o fi s'opolo
Ata rodo pelu tomati la ofi s'opolo
Pamu rege idi, mu rege idi, mu rege idi

Adebisi came to visit me
What do I do now?
She does not eat pounded yam, she does not eat rice
Only frog eggs!
How shall one cook the frog?
One shall use habanero peppers and tomatoes to cook the frog
Pamu rege bottom, mu rege bottom, mu rege bottom

Were were ni ina jo
To ba jo, a bu yaya
Were were ni ina jo
To ba jo, a bu yaya
A bu a bu yaya
A bu a bu yaya

Slowly, slowly, the fire burns
When it burns, it becomes more fiery
It becomes more fiery, fiery, fiery

Ododo yi o
Naira melo ni ododo mi o?
(Can't remember the rest)

This flower o
How much is this flower o?

All the above acted out in dance with our small bodies twisting and turning in our aso oke tied above our prepubescent chests. What won't one do for a one day journey, just one day, back into those days without cares?

(the name of the visiting govt functionary is usually affixed in the space)

Eyin lo lorun oba yan

Lati se asaju wa

Oluwa to fin yin si po

Ko ni jeko ba je

Translating literarily lol

Shina Peters captured the school setting so well:

Bi bata re ba fe din 'Ko-Ko-Ka', Ka'we E!

(If you want ya shoe to sound "Ko-Ko-Ka", read Ya Book!)

You see? Who who doesn't like those kinda shoes??

And you can only be a Lawyer or Accountant or Engineer or Dokta..

Anything else is below par.

PS: Watch-out for Valteena @ time-stamp 0:33 as she dramatically emphasizes a point.
