And he has 12hrs to respond to those Pms and messages, or there will be Unrest and Turbo-Nuclear Shakement in his Domain.......VQAS
What unrest? perhaps cowardly PM-ing Djister not to respond -- but not to respond to what? I am sure he is man enough and don't need to be told what to do. Here is a typical example of back-biters and cozy little alliances and PM-ing -- just what I was warning newbies about. “Like Nigeria, most of you need shaken up from your slumber”, says a true Nigerian with a very “un-Nigerian” attitude.

emj

Remember the title and purpose of this thread: it is the “Arrivals Quick Guide.” Djister put forward his guide and I put forward a more realistic guide. Now, it is too common for some Nigerians like you, madam, to lose focus on purposes and objectives, but I don't intend to turn this thread into the “Main square” or "The Crucible” by responding to your tribal gibberish--which I refuse to understand. And so I say, “Good day to you madam!”

APPENDIX 1:

Revised Angelic Verses (RAV) translated from Original
Brokin Edition (OBE) of the Gospel According to Judas Iscariot (Fellow of the Chattered Institute of Bankers, Ancient Palestine)

Story, story, (story)! Once upon a time, (time, time)!
And so, it came to pass that in the good old olden days, in ancient Democratic Republic of Congo, Young Colonel John Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi of the Nigerian contingent of the UN peacekeeping force, walked into the officers' mess in Congo with his pet crocodile by his side. He then put the crocodile up on the bar, and turned to the astonished patrons and said:

"Hi, guys! I'll make you a deal. I'll open this crocodile's mouth, and place my 'wetin-call' inside. Then the crocodile will close his mouth for sixty (60) seconds. Then he'll open his mouth, and I'll remove my 'you-know-what' unscathed. In return for the privilege of witnessing this rare spectacle, each of you will buy me a bottle of criminally cold odeku."

The crowd of patriotic and loyal Nigerian soldiers (including Second Lieutenant Theophilus Danjuma, Lieutenants Segun Okikiolakan Aremu Obasanjo, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, and Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, and Captains Yakubu Gowon and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu) all murmured in unanimous approval.

Colonel John Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi stood up on the bar, dropped his trousers, and placed his big blokos inside the crocodile's wide open mouth. The crocodile snapped his mouth close as the crowd gasped in awe and extreme trepidation.

After one WHOLE minute, Colonel John Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi grabbed an empty bottle of original made-in-Nigeria Guinness stout, which he had earlier quaffed, and smacked the crocodile hard on the top of its head. The crocodile meekly opened his mouth, and the jolly supreme commander of the Nigerian contingent removed his 'you-know-what' unscathed, as promised. The crowd of paralytically drunk patriotic Nigerian soldiers cheered, and the first of his free odekus were delivered.

Colonel John Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi stood up again and made another offer.

"I'll pay anyone 1,000 naira who's willing to give it a try."
A hush fell over the crowd. After a while, a hand went up in the back of the bar. A bootiliciously ikebescopic Congolese ashewo, who regularly serviced the Nigeria warriors, timidly spoke up, an said:

"I'll try it! But please, just don't hit me so hard with the beer bottle, Sir".

That is the end of my first story for today.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
APPENDIX 2:

Revised Standard Version (RSV) translated from Original
Brokin Edition (OBE) of the Holy Book of Executive Lies according to Alhaji (General) Ibrahim. Gbadamosi (Evil Spirit) Babangida (GCFR).

Story, story, (story)! Once upon a time, (time, time)!

And so, it came to pass that in the good old olden days, in prehistoric Abuja, 3 men went into the Asokoro Hilton Towers. The man behind the desk misinformed them that the room was 1 billion Stone Age Nigerian naira, equivalent to ancient UK£30.00. So, each man paid old UK£10.00, and went to share the room.

A
while later, the honest stone age Nigerian behind the reception desk suddenly realized that the room was only old UK£25.00. So, he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys' room with old UK£5.00.

On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split UK£5.00 evenly between 3 men, so he gave each man an old UK£1.00 coin, and kept the other UK£2.00 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid UK£9.00 (i.e. UK£10.00 - UK£1.00) for the room, which is a total of ancient UK£27.00 (i.e. old UK£9.00 x 3). Now, add the UK£2.00 that the bellboy kept = UK£27.00 + UK£2.00.00 = ancient UK£29.00.

Where has the other one (i) pound gone?

That is the end of my second story for today.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

APPENDIX 3:

Revised Standard Version (RSV) translated from Original Brokin Edition (OBE) of the Gospel according to Saint Jomo Gbomo (The Militant), who was imprisoned in ancient Angola.

Story, story,
(story)! Once upon a time, (time, time)!
And so, it came to pass that in the good old olden days, in prehistoric Kaduna....

BREAKING NEWS!!!

The
People’s DemocraticParty (PDP), the largest partisan political party in neo-colonial sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond, has just announced today that they are changing their party emblem, from a red-white-and-green umbrella, to a rainbow-coloured condom because it more clearly reflects their party's political ideology, world view, and policy stance:

A condom (1) stands up to inflation, (2) halts production, (3) discourages co-operation, (4) protects a bunch of dicks, and arseholes, and (5) gives one a sense of security while screwing others.

Pee-Dee-Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Power too de pipul!

That is the end of my third story for today.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
APPENDIX 4:

Revised Standard Version (RSV) translated from Original Brokin Edition (OBE) of the Gospel according to Prophetess (Ms.) Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, the First Daughter of a very corrupt former military dictator.

Story, story,
(story)! Once upon a time, (time, time)!
And so, it came to pass that in the good old olden days, three Pastors- an Indian, an American and a Nigerian - were engaged in a discussion as to how they share the proceeds from offerings they received after each Sunday service.

"I draw a big circle on the floor, and toss all the money in the air", said the Indian Pastor "The notes and coins that fall within the circle is for God and the ones that fall outside it are mine"

The American Pastor said:

"Well, I draw a long line on the floor. The notes and coins that fall on the line are for God, and the ones that fall out of the line are mine"

"Well in my own case" the Nigerian Pastor said, "I simply toss all the notes and coins in the air. The ones that God catches are his and the ones He allows to fall back to earth, He leaves for my own welfare.

That is the end of my fourth, and final story for today.

Muchas gracias.

Once more, please, do not forget to bring all of the above to the notice of the affected staff, and also extend both my personal congratulations, and the kindest regards of us guys in the 500th Floor (and above) to each and every one of our diplomatic staff.

Abraxas,
@ your #2,
This is why language is so important.

There is no missing one pound. The reader is misdirected to think of adding up to obtain 30 . Totally unnecessary, totally irrelevant and an absolute waste of time.

The objective is not to add up to 30 pounds but to subtract to obtain 25 pounds. The answer is 30-(3+2) or 30-3-2 = 25.

Still, the men overpaid by 2/3s of a pound. They should each have paid 8 + 1/3 pounds but they ended up paying 9 pounds each

But the bellboy still pocketed 2 pounds.

On behalf of the Welcomer-In-Chief/Village High Commissioner, Don Juan-Carlos ABRAXAS (III); the Chairperson, Board of Trustees (JJCAMB), Countess EMJ; Chief Miscellaneous Affairs Officer to His Excellency; Database Administrator and the Distinguished members of the Elders Forum, I consider it an honor to officially present to you, your Letter of Appointment. (see attached).

It may interest you to know that the decision to choose you above other villagers, with equally amazing potentials, was not an easy one.
The Board of Trustees held countless hours of energy-sapping, brain-draining and sometimes, brain-freezing closed door deliberations.

At then end, it was unanimously decided that you possess all that it takes to excel in this highly demanding, self-sacrificial, thankless but highly fascinating job of welcoming newcomers to our distinguished village.

Please be informed that there would be a marathon briefing for all new appointees at 16:00HRS sharp on Monday, June 30th.
Venue is the Administrative office of the Database Department, Room 35, Basement Level.

The Database Administrator would also use that opportunity to complete your documentation. Please come prepared.

Congratulations!

Dimaanu
AG-JJCAMB

PS: Please endeavour to post your offer Acceptance or Rejection Letter on this thread, prior to the proposed briefing.

Dear All,

In the light of my recent august appointment as the new Welcomer-in-Chief and bearing the strains on aching old bones of climbing the stairs to the 450th Floor of the VTT Towers, I am assuming this role with much trepidation and vertigo.

However, it is my immense pleasure to have a window view which allows me to see all the shenanigans going on in the Village Square though I will lack the youthful energy to race down the same stairs to intervene in any crisis or merriment in time.

The role is one of great honour tinged with the knowledge that my political detractors want me as far away from the Woman-to-Woman section and my dear harem of beautiful ladies therein. It is a ploy which has culminated in being banished to the dizzy heights of this establishment.

Unbeknown to those detractors, I can now very clearly see them day or night as they creep around the village trying to sneak into the quarters of the females in the village. From this vantage point I shall commence the production of a Village Totolo Amebo magazine with panoramic pictures which shall be circulated with frequency and alacrity to expose them all.

Alongside this new hobby of mine, I shall ensure that as many of you jjcs are truly welcomed in the spirit of the NVS which is well known in the cyber world.

The only note of caution at this stage is to make you aware of the long roads ahead filled with a few Docokwys, uncovered Palamedes and some Ojemba moments.

The following recent JJCs are welcomed along with others to the NVS and I pray your stay is as exciting as our own have been in recent years with little or no Double Wahala.

Please act as Auspiciously as you can and leave EMJ and Chiiroha ALONE!!

I thank you for joining and look forward to handling your personal Shalalas without getting involved in your Roforofos.

Djister,
i need to doff my hat for you.
i just entered this village without taking the time to know the who-is-who of NVS.
meanwhile, i have been here about a month and been enjoying every minute of it, making friends and posting comments on issues.
but i need to thank and applaud whoever thought of this site and those responsible for keeping it on air for so long, una try well, well, more grease and ground nut oil to una elbow.
Kudos to the administrative and technical crew and job well done to you all.
