Bamun Nii-Veror.
Source: LeadershipNigeria.com Radical former senator, Joseph N. Waku has accused the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, of using the recovered Abacha loot to build a 250-housing unit for himself.
In a chat with our correspondent yesterday in Abuja, Waku described Obasanjo as the most corrupt leader Nigeria has produced, one who must be prosecuted and made to account for his misdeeds.
He said since the former leader does not have a life immunity, it is proper that he be investigated and tried like some former governors by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He said Nigerians would want to know the whereabouts of the Abacha loot and where Obasanjo got the money with which he is building a 250-unit housing estate after leaving office in less than four months. "Obasanjo has no more immunity, so he should be made to appear before the court of law and Nigerians will be thrilled at the kind of revelations I will produce for the private prosecution," he said, adding, "I know the consequences I am going to face, but for the sake of the country, I am ready to cause him to be brought to book as no head of state has the kind of money Obasanjo has." Asked about his position as Nigeria celebrates 47 years of independence come October 1, Waku declared, "This is the first October 1st Nigerians will experience change as Obasanjo has destroyed all that was built for 46 years ago. "I urge all Nigerians to put those years behind them and look forward because Obasanjo has destroyed Nigeria, but we will bring him to book." __________________ No matter who writes the history of Nigeria, even if it is Obasanjo's greatest enemy, would you erase the fact that out of 140 million people, God gave him an opportunity to manage this country three times? | Re: Obasanjo Stole Abacha Loot Waku Hi, folks! Quite frankly, what Senator Waku has said is very grave: This is the story of a former African president who personally presided over the fleecing of the treasury of his country, even descending so low as embezzling repatriated looted money, to build a 250-room 5-star hotel, that sounds more like what could happen in, say, Zaire under Mobutu, or in Emperor Bokassa's Central African Empire, or in Equatorial Guinea, NOT in Nigeria. But, alas, it is happening in Nigeria. That is how low General Okikiolakan Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo sank over the past eight years.
Have Nigerians been made to become so insensitive to the gravity of what the likes of General Okikiolakan Olusegun Obasanjo, Sir Tony Anenih, Colonel Ahmadu Alli, Commodore Bode George, General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida, Sir Peter Odili, Chief James Ibori, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Alhaji Ibrahim Turaki, Mr. Nnamdi Uba, et al have done to the nation's treasury, so much so that nobody cares any more to bat an eyelid about tales of corruption coming from Nigeria any more? Elsewhere, the mere existence of Bells University is enough cause for Obasanjo to be flushed down the cesspit of contemporary Nigerian history as a compulsive kleptomaniac.
Muchas gracias.
