......just an innocent question
Oceanic have been mentioned in serveral EFCC indictment.
1 i did say she should refuse deposits. All i am said was she could not articulately put an answer together.
2. I refer u to answer above.
Proven themselves? how? where? Typical nigerian. U worship her cos she is a bank CEO. She didn't get promoted. Its owned by her family. So how is dat a proven track record. Using state funds to keep a bank afloat is not rocket science.

| Re: Peter Odili sue BBC for Defamation of character Salstep, well, some people will support any rubbish if it jives with their pocket.
It's like the "me first, and to hell with everyone else" mantra.
Its like the drama in Rivers State. Some so called "die hard" supporters of Omehia, have quickly turned against him and are now "die hard" Amaechi supporters.
So, nothing surprises me anymore , especially on NVS! Originally Posted by salstep Meticulous, Some times i do wonder how nigerians access a persons level of intelligence. The 40% qoute sums it all.
All this rubbish about she was asked political questions. Her bank is in cohort with the government looting the economy. It has taken an oyinbo man to ask hard hitting questions that would get an NTA presenter the sack or possibly time in jail. |

IF I HAVE THE LUXURY OF TIME, OR IF YOU DO, PLS START A THREAD ON THE OLD TIMERS LIKE YOU. Nice to read you both.
Akinyi, we still dey very much around but keeping a low profile these days especially after I heard OBL had a contract out on me. Glad to be back on this board - I wonder what happened to the other old timers on this board?

| Re: Peter Odili sue BBC for Defamation of character Let's examine that “40%” quote Salstep and Meticulous wants this lady to be crucified over: Interviewer:
Transparency International latest poll said they polled a whole range of nigerians and 40% said they have had to pay bribes within the last 12 months. Ibru:
40 percent? thank God it is not 60 percent,( interjection by Interviewer: but this is just within the last year) Since it is 40 percent , before that, Nigeria was adjudged to be 100 percent corrupt. but now if they say 60 is now not by you know taking the other side the other view, then it means we are making progress in this regard. Reporter:
Well I have heard about the glass being half full rather than half empty(interjection by ibru: exactly!), but you seem to be taking it to an extraordinary degree.....
Frankly, it could be argued, that the answer was brilliant. it took a supposedly negative question, and made it into a positive. It reminds me of Bill Clinton's most loyal attack dog, forgot his name (the bald headed guy whose wife is a republican - love him). During the monikagate scandal, he was asked why clinton lied to the american people? His answer? (which probably is still being studied today in the school of mavericks) went along these lines.
"yes clinton lied, he lied to me too. he said he would create 8 million jobs in 4 months, he created 11 million jobs, he said he would balance the budget, he gave us a surplus,....... but guess what, i forgave him" needless to say the interviewer was flabbergasted.
Looks to me from the response of the reporter, even he seem to acknowledge that Ibru’s answer was a smart-ass retort.
Again while this lady might not be a candidate for the "Hall of fame of eloquence" (how many percent of the contributors on this forum are?), and I certainly do not agree with all her views, she did not rise to the level of attack being melted on her by the instigators of this thread nor did she commit political or business suicide.
This is undiluted "Bad belle" pure and simple!

Salstep, now you seem to be telling us exactly where your angst really is. From your statement above, you seem to be implying that you are actually jealous of the rich.
That in itself is not necessarily a bad thing. But I advice you to channel such jealousy into making your self better rather than into unfounded negativity. positive karma my friend.
.....now lets talk about bill gates, how he is such a bad man and he poluted all the environment and all those little trees are dying cos he is so rich....oh i hate him so much |

Meticulous, I am not sure how taking an oppossing view from you means supporting "rubbish cos it jives with my pocket" whatever that means. did u run out of intelligent argument?
Not that it is any of ya business, but being that I have only spent a total of aprox. 10 days or less in 9ja going on 20yrs you may want to explain to me how preventing you from twisting the facts "jives with my pocket".

I guess your comments is meant as wind up. I am jealous of the rich? Which part of my post implies that? If u have run out of ideas, please run to another thread. U are out of touch with what is happening on the ground in nigeria.

@ Wind
Thanks sir for this and other brilliant repartee (in my view) here. I must confess to being bemused at Salstep angst all over this thread.
He posted something and gave his (editorial) views. However, he lets loose at anyone who holds a contrary view. Surely you could hold on to your position (that others think its patently incorrect) without getting personal and all that. It's most unseemly.

no wonder your assessment of the intelligence of Nigerian females is so low
Now I understand why I just couldn't get what you were trying to say in so many of your posts.. You're really out of touch...
It really figures... Thanks for the heads-up on that.
Salstep, you're right to move on. I wouldn't bother trying to explain this to some, they are out of touch with the reality on the ground. You really think intelligence equates to answering interview questions eloquently? U guys obviously have some pre-conceived notion of this woman. That is why being 'in-touch' is neccessary to judge her performance in that interview. |

| Re: Peter Odili sue BBC for Defamation of character Izonere, it was more her lack of knowledge than her lack of eloquence that took me aback.
For example, her responses to the micro-finance, foreign investment and protectionism questions really got me wondering about her background. I was sure that she did not have an economics, banking, or related background...
So I went looking and she supposedly holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Sociology from North East London University and a Masters of Philosophy from the London school of Oriental and African studies.
That answered my question... So it's also that she does not have a grip of the subject matter, her lack of eloquence only added to the show of shame.
