      Default Ekiti Gov's Torture Chambers

YouTube - Ekiti Rerun: The Torture of journalists and election observers caught on tape

Segun Oni's torture chambers located right inside Ekiti Government House where journalists duly accredited by INEC to observe d rerun Government Election were assaulted, beaten, bitten & manhandled 4 being in d "wrong place @ d wrong ti...me" & 'discovering' paid agents who were engaged in multiple thumb-printing of ballot papers on d eve of d rerun elections (24th April, 2009). The victims shown in d video are Itobo Ofem of d Verite Newspapers (based in Rivers State); Gospel Oziri of d National Guide Newspapers (based in Ebonyi State)

The PDP goons & perpetrators in d video are; (1) Sanya Adesua alias Pero- Commissioner I, Ekiti State Civil Service Commission (ESCSC); (2) Bolanle Bruce (female) Snr. Special Asst to Gov. Segun Oni on Ekiti in Diaspora. A member of Ekitipanupo online forum, Bruce was shown in d video interrogating d journalists & taking their pictures & addressing them as fake journalists. She asked 1 of d journalists..."Can I ask him a ques Akogun? (Ijakoko was same as Akogun in d video) Was I not d 1 that accosted u on d day of d Local Govt Election @ Awo-Ekiti…? You were in a Niger Delta wear. Answer me now it's a ques. You were driving in a...kiloruko Motor yiii oooo ……Golf." But d journalist wasn't in Ekiti @ that time & his negative response only earned him more beating from his tormentors while Bola Bruce supervised & enjoyed d scene. (3) 'Pastor' Yemi Olayinka- A PDP Chairmanship aspirant 4 Ado-Ekiti Local Govt in d Local Govt Elections of 2008. He was defeated in d primaries by Mrs Tosin Aluko. He appeared in d video in a multi-coloured Ankara fabric & he wore glasses. He was laughing heartily while d journalists were being beaten mercilessly. Yemi Olayinka is also a member of Ekitipanupo online forum. (4) Olu Ojo--A strong member of d PDP from Ifaki shown in d video wearing a hat & slapped one of d journalists towards d end of d video when they were asked to carry their shoes on their heads. Olu Ojo is fat with a robust cheek (5) Femi Ijakoko- He is Gov Segun Oni’s thug & until recently, was second in Command to Erinmoje. He's since taken over as no 1. He was wearing a flowing buba & sokoto (Milk colour). He bites one of d journalists as a lion would tear its prey. He interrogated them by asking d ques..." And you, what is your business in that place that I saw you?.. If you provoke me I will blast your head...!" (6) Femi aka Akilapa- A PDP thug of no fixed address. He was shown in d video wearing a multi coloured 'buba' & 'sokoto' adire fabric. He was most vicious in d video as he played d role of a professional slap-giver. He was d one shouting on d journalists, "kneel down! Kneel down!"

      And..

      Why are they begging?

      Why are those journalists begging?

What right do those people have to tell a grown man to kneel down?

Did they catch them with anything?

Why allow themselves to be humiliated like that, guilty or not (which I doubt they are!)?

I think they were begging because, at that point in time, they did not expect to leave that place alive.

Sorry, but I'm afraid that the only thing you rise up for when it comes to President Barack Obama is for hate and intolerance and discrimination against your own - period.

That is how you have been and that is how you continue to be: driven by the very same instincts that made our forbears victims of others who thought they were better than them.

Now, that is VERY different from what we have here - very different, Rose.

      That's exactly what gets me.

That man is a husband and/or a father to somebody ou there, being abused by empowered rogues and opportunists for no other possible reason than he was carrying out his duties of reporting an electoral excercise.

Imagine one said he'd blast the man's head - just like that?

I pray these folks will reap theirs sooner rather than later.

After all these years in Texas, I thought your command of the English Language would have been better than it was back when you spent weeks on the farm, far out of town on the banks of "Time Imo River".

Otherwise, you'd know that I didn't say I would die. On the contrary, I said, "sometimes I feel" like I would rather die than edure such a thing. Alas, here you are trying to ignite another session of ethnic-bashing.

As an Adult, such should be waaaay beneathe you. But who am I kidding? Because a section of the country didn't join your side in an unfortunate civil war has always been a cannon-fodder for your insults. Shame!

Val, may be in a normal society, there would have been repercussions for these types of treatment, but remember this is Nigeria we are talking about here. Upon all the assault, the powers that be could have even shut down the media houses of the journalists concerned, were there be complaints from them.

This country has been reduced to a jungle, where there's no respect for human beings, especially if you don't belong to the few "elites". The law is meant for certain category of people. Those running the country and their goons are above the law in all ramifications.

Majority are just helpless, hoping for the best. It's a shame that after 49 years of independence, we are not faring better, if not even worse. Well, there are no longer colonial masters to blame for our woes, but ourselves.

      Hey, FSU!

I thought you were ALL about "profering solutions" to Nigerian problems, as opposed to jumping in the air and clapping to celebrate others' travails - or does this look like something worthy of celebrating 'in your eye'?

May God not let you find yourself in such a situation.

      Auspy of Ekiti,

This video is enough reason why Nigeria should be either divided into the different tribes or handed to foreigners to run and repair for us. In a full-blooded Yoruba country, Oni will not do this and go scot-free. He went scot-free now because he has Abuja (non-yoruba) backing.

Once again congrats to EKITI for another trail-blazing episode, the first being the half nude women protesting an election.

For the duratoin of the vide-play, I sat transfixed, memories of even worse beating I once took from member oof Onovo's police force rushing @ me.

In my case, those folks were armed. In this case, these lot are also armed. Not with guns, of course, but cheer Ignorance.

I just feel, whatever gains we think / hope to get in the courts (Uba's courts by the way) as per the state of this cancerous madness are too little too slow, to have any major impact.

This namespace deserves an earth-shaking upHeaval....the people's revolt. Its so overdue.

Your rejoicement is in bad taste - utterly, shamelessly and unconscionably distasteful. This is not funny at all, and no community is immune from such in Nigeria. Unless you want to tell us that the daring Kidnap of an incumbent State Governor happened not in Nigeria, but in The Gambia - superego's country, where we plan to deport him soon so that he can join his boss (Gambian President) in using 'juju' to "cure" AIDS over there.

Once again congrats to EKITI for another trail-blazing episode, the first being the half nude women protesting an election.

You are now attempting to make plain thuggery a tribal issue, how does the abuse we see in that video clip translate to dividing Nigeria along racial lines? Did you notice there was a second video about observers dehumanized also and one of the observers was obviously Yoruba and speaking it fluently? I begi, please slow down!

That video is why changing Nigeria is a do or die situation. As we can see, it may not have taken much for those 3 men to have gone from that situation to death, just suppose there was a drunken powerbroker in their mist.

BUT!!! Having said that, as somebody else has noted, this video was produced by those actually carrying out the abuse, so we need to know the full story behind this. Why did the abusers feel the need to film the interrogation? A set up? Framing of innocents? Proof of what exactly?

Anyhow, the bottom line: For all of you (us) who say we want to change Nigeria, I hope you now understand what you are up against, and as we know, even worse. Still interested?

Footnote: Any wonder why now the gubernatorial candidates in some Delta (and other) states had to produce their own private armies?

The Count, I agree with you that this is not funny at all. I assume you are based in Nigeria. If so, will be possible to follow up on this issue.

I wonder how soon that'll be.

(Before someone takes a tribal swipe on me, I am not from Ekiti or SW for that matter. But what's bad is bad, regardless of where it happens).

Bola Bruce. The face of a brute

      (2) Bolanle Bruce (female) Snr.
