| Re: Made-in-Lagos Transformer Hits Market the sad truth is that the power sector in nigeria like every other thing has been tainted by politicians, so until that is fixed, we are on a long thing!

| Re: Made-in-Lagos Transformer Hits Market The fact remains that power is the bedrock of any step towards economic and social development.
Egypt that has a population of say 70million has a generating capacity of 24000mwts.
South Africa of 44million people has close to 32000 to 34000mwts generating capacity.
U.S.A with a population of 300million people has 1millionmwts generating capacity.
Nigeria of 150million people is still struggling to see if it can achieve 6000mwts come dec 2009,.......... what a shame. Sometimes its had to even believe that this is true but the reality is that we are 30yrs left behind because of evil military rule and Obj's 8yrs of waste. Every State should be encouraged to pursue every known means of generating and distributing energy/power.

For now I doubt they can handle the Transformers which are used at the power generation & transmission ends which are basically HV(High Voltage) & MV(Medium Voltage) & the contracts for those are monopolies of PHCN/FGN.
All in all if the government can ban imports of transformers for their range of production it could encourage them to diversify into higher ranges plus spin offs like feeder pillars, bus bars, etc. But Nigerians love imports & that's the problem.
Eherm they tried to, and i believe still working on more... Development is a process that should be based on continuity. You plan on top of your plans, how much more on the power sector. I cant agree less my brother, you cant neglect the power sector not even for a day but if you have noticed my write up above, 30YRS + Obj's 8yrs.....You can only have pity on Nigeria as a nation mired by her own elites and leaders.

Lagos state should look more to bio-gas alternative energy because of the huge waste generated in the megapolis.

Lots of "baby steps" equals walking and running. No nation gets anywhere without "baby steps". "Better late that never" is usually measured with the advancement time of others people in mind. Being on time can be measured by the impact of a nation's advancement on its people; so much that past mishaps is forgiven.
Every news of advancement, small or large, is a great step. Every news of sustained advancement and development is long lasting great step. Keep, keeping on.
