| Re: Nigeria Needs Constitutional Amendments and Electoral Reforms NOW! Well said my Paul. If i may ask you, who will articulate or debate the issues you envisage should be reformed in our constitution? Is it the 90 % of our senators that were selected and imposed on us? Who will preside over that, is it your brother David Mark that champoined the ill-fated Obasanjo third term? Is it David Mark that has his £6 million stolen wealth frozen in the UK that will reform our constitution? Is it David Mark whose selection into the senate is still shaky that will preside over the constitutional reform you are advocating? Recall that David Mark's opponent is still contesting his selection in the tribunal. Is it Chimaraoke Nnamani (former governor of Enugu state and currently a senator) et al that have properties in every major city of the world that will debate the issues you are talking about? A national conference is exigent because the status quo will never allow a free and fair election in Nigeria. To allow this will be tantamount to their political suicide.
Nigerians will not be calling for a national conference if we we were allowed to elect our law makers. We are calling for a national conference because we did not elect our so-called law-makers. We yearn for a national conference because we have no iota of confidence in our selected law makers. Look at how they are raping our beloved mother called Nigeria with reckless abandon and you still want us to leave our destinies in their hands. Enough of this! We need a departure from this!!!
Don't be scared Paul, a national conference will not break Nigeria up rather it will be the panacea to Nigeria's problems. Let us sit down and agree on the type of country we want. The Nigerian establishment is avoiding this because they are bent on protecting their selfish interests above the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. Peace and justice will continue to elude Nigeria if Nigerians are not allowed to have a say in the way our country is run and agree on the type of country we want. Shekena, Ka Chineke mezie okwu.
