Default Re: The EFCC: support your Local Sheriff

The fight against corruption just as the fight against fake drugs, is not an easy task. The people you are fighting will always fight back with any weapon within their reach. Before most of us left the shores of Nigeria for greener pastures, we worked in the civil service and some other establishments. The fact is that if anyone thinks that the fight is easy, let the person go down to his local government and bluntly confront his chairman to give a public account of monies collected from Abuja! Yes, every citizen has the right to know how money allocated to his local govt is dispensed. But do we ask? How many mental adults can boldly confront their local govt chairmen? Of course, if you persist and you come out alife, then go to church and thank God. These evil people like you rightly pointed, have killer squads here and there. They will keep fighting back and viciously too. But we should not relent until they are flatly defeated. And defeated, they will.

In all I think that Farida is pursuing other far reaching and enduring policies that will keep the EFCC afloat, expecially in the area of forfeiture of property. That is good. I hope the House will allow that to pass through without bias.

The woman should however not relent. Having said that, does it mean that evidence against Ibori and Nnamani are now lost forever and that those governors are now as free as air? Does it mean these governors have destroyed the evidence against them because of lapses here and there? If that is the case, then God help us, because these are high profile cases of corruption.

Anyway, the struggle continues.
