I hope Abati read the article by Sonala Olumhense tittled "What the Nigerian Press Owes the Nigerian People" The press to a large extent moulds public opinion.

Most times the press protects corrupt government officials by refusing to mention their names even when they have facts at their disposal.At other times they practice self censorship and REFUSE to bring to the public the atrocities commited by elected public officials.

A politician who the press brings to public attention as corrupt or incompetent will think twice before venturing for re-election,but in the era of brown envelopes and free choice land,can we blame the press for "afghanistanism" aka self censorship.
