For some months now, it has filled the air, periodicals and websites that Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State is apparently being entreated to be a presidential candidate on the platform of the ANPP come 2011 general elections. Those championing this cause, do campaign very passionately that, he is popular enough to win any election if his tenures as governor are anything to go by. This, they argue, is an issue because winning elections in Kano being the most populous and politically sophisticated state in the country is only a feat for a politician of substance.
