Default Re: Blue Eyes, Green Eyes Or Cat Eyes; Black And Frivolous ?

Bleached skin, straight hair, colored lenses, changing of names to European names, preferences for things made elsewhere except in Nigeria... The list goes on, including lawmakers and even the President, who all rush abroad for medical checkups and treatments. There are families in Nigeria where the children only speak English and do not speak the parents' mother tongue, which is regarded as vernacular, local.

It is all symptoms of an inferiority complex.

Even Arabs and Asians (Bangladeshis, Sri lankans, Filipinos) are perceived as 'Oyinbo' and thereby 'better' by many in Nigeria. It is pathetic and saddening, as this attitude is what makes other peoples to try and discriminate against black poeples of African descent. And the worst of these are no longer the Europeans but Greeks, Arabs, Indians, etc, and it is not their fault. As the Yoruba says, 'Iri ni si ni iso ni l'ojo' : people treat you the way you present yourself.
