Whatever happens, Uba must now review his political ambition in light of the Supreme Court's judgment of June 11, 2009.
It seems this write-up is belated and has been overtaken by events
Chief Andy Uba has indeed reviewed his ambition. Since "ambition should be made of sterner stuff" he is back in court. This time he is asking the court ot declare him the governor in waiting who will automatically take over from Peter Obi without any further election. This new twist is an off-shoot of the strange judgement the appeal court gave even after the Supreme Court had ruled the 2007 election null and void. I am curious to know how the courts will marry both rulings.
The reprimand directed at Uba's lawyer was serious because it cast aspersions on the integrity of senior advocates in Nigeria.
Did this reprimand bother our SANs? Of course, our lawyers will tell us that their responsibility is to ensure that their clients' rights are fully protected. The verdict in this case will surely be very interesting.
