As this is a Zenith thread, let me add that my non-Zenith account was whacked with N8 for SMS Alerts..
Incredible. Even when I am in Nigeria I have since removed text message alerts. The
mobile banking app is enough or I just log on to check. Nigeria what a contraption.
The highly exploitative Lagos State Motor Vehicles licensing authority charges N400(Four hundred naira) as SMS alert fee when you register your new/tokunbo car!
The SMS is supposed to come at the end of the first year to remind you that your vehicle licence was due for renewal.
But, trust them, you would never ever get the alert. State of excellence, there for you!
The alerts are great O. My friend told me how he got an e-mail alert on an account on a Friday night. The alert showed that his balance was wiped out! He immediately called their 24/7 number and they confirmed that the balance was zero, that the money was moved to a different account number. No further information could be provided until Monday. Come Monday, he got a callback and they confirmed that it was a planned change of account number, still under his name. So, he asked them, "why after banking hours over the weekend, with no prior communication?" They apologised for that.
Looking at my latest non-Zenith account Interest, I reckon it has dropped from 8% to 5%. Dem never tell us say dis go happen O.
I feel for your friend. As for your post above that is just not right the way these Naija banks
