Re: 'We Won The War Not You' - Fani-Kayode
Secondly the north literally begged Awolowo not to declare Oduduwa Republic and go the way of Biafra even though that was his original intention. Thirdly if it hadn't been for Col. Obasanjo (as he then was) who was stationed as Commanding Officer in Ibadan at the time the Biafran forces, under the command of the gallant yoruba officer Col. Banjo, would have entered and swept into the west at Ore and the war would have been over very quickly. They sent Professor Wole Soyinka to Obasanjo and asked for safe passage but Obasanjo refused.
Eagerly awaiting the responses of Ewuro, Agidimolaja and co.
There is nothing in this article that is new to me. The sad fact of the matter is that all other ethnic groups are now seeing the folly of their association with Nigeria. As the old saying goes the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. All Nigerians are hurting apart from the looting class. NIGERIA WILL NEVER SEE OR KNOW REAL PEACE UNTIL WE DO WHAT NORMAL PEOPLE WITH DEEP ROOTED PROBLEMS DO, ADDRESS THEIR ISSUES. However the lure of money kills this fantasy and is common with ALL ETHNIC GROUPS. I dey laugh
The author forgot to mention that the war to capture Biafra was a three pronged attack aided by air force mercenaries from Egypt and Russia and other tribes. The mid-west liberation was also possible with the ethnic groups now occupying present day Edo and southern Delta state. So not quite sure why Mr Kayode has the misleading title "We Won the War Not You". It was a combined effort and the result is what we have now a failed and backward country called Nigeria.
