|  Which test is the best (yes for the breast)?
Since it is recommended that women 40 years and older have one mammogram per year (shhh, don't tell my doctor, I refused to go do one...why should I? my risk has always been very low...), I've often wondered which one would be the right one for me...the article below has a good review; http://www.lifescript.com/Health/Con...r_You.aspx?p=1

Breast cancer is the second-most common form of cancer among women in the U. S. (after skin cancer); 192,370 new cases are estimated for 2009, according to the American Cancer Society. It’s also the second-leading cause of cancer death in women (after lung cancer), with 40,170 deaths expected this year.
And every woman is at risk - even if you have no family history. Only 15% of breast cancers are genetic. That’s why it’s important to be vigilant and get regular screenings.

What is it? A digital mammogram records two or three images of your breast on a computer, where they can be enhanced by a radiologist.
It’s the same experience and technology as a mammogram (including some possibly painful squishing of your breast).
Digital is even more effective than traditional mammography in women with dense breasts, younger than 50 or about to go through menopause, says Lori Kunzelman, M.D., of Scottsdale Medical Imaging, a leading participant in a 2007 national breast MRI detection study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Pros: Images can be stored and retrieved electronically, so doctors can easily share them and compare to past mammograms. It also has fewer false positives.
Cons: As with traditional mammography, they produce only a two-dimensional image.
Cost: $120 and up (higher than traditional mammograms). If a doctor orders one, insurance typically pays. But the technology isn’t available everywhere.
Just had my first digital mammography 2 years ago.....with a familial history of breast cancer.....I really do not have a choice......it was one of these tests by the Grace of God that saved one of my aunts....she has been in remission for the past 5 years having been diagnosed with a stage 5.....with double mastectomy and all. Praise to the Lord...she saw her first grand baby last year.....and doing grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat here in Texas.....

The best test depends on the density of the breast tissue. Very dense tissue may require more than just a mammogram. The best thing to do is discuss your options with your doctor and he/she can help you decide on what is best for you.

A man that has palpated, squeezed, patted, cupped, rough-handled, kissed, nibbled on his wife's mammaries can also tell when an unusual lump appears.
Don't laugh
There has been cases where women had been saved by meticulous husbands who took that job very seriously so ladies, make sure your man is doing like he should.
Not just the right one,make him treat both equally
It is his matrimonial duties and moreover
It may save your life

Your man s regular handling is best.  he will be the first to raise alarm if stranger hits his hands on duty!the breasts remain the best introductory foreplay instruments.i have seen ladies shiver with extasy when properly palpated!  Balo,u be doc ko?

A person* that handles your breast regularly (and takes the job at hand seriously), will definitely come in handy (no pun intended) when it comes to lump detection - Lateesha has made a very important point here and we should not just laugh it off, after seeing the number of women here who are breast cancer survivors i can just imagine how many Nigerian women are dying of this scourge everyday (and usually getting themselves or "enemies" blamed).
Mammography is practically unheard of in Naija and i am sure a lot of lives will be saved if more men took their boob handling as more than just something to do with your hands while you thrust.
I will echo Lateesha's advice - palpate, squeeze, pat, cup, rough-handle, kiss & nibble on them properly & regularly and you never know the life you save may be the one of the person that means the most to you
